Joe Lamboi Urges Officers to be Committed

The Director General of the Sierra Leone Correctional Service on Friday 7th February, urged officers to be “committed” as the President of Sierra Leone has declared this year as the “year of delivery” of which the SLCS is not an exception.

He emphasised that he will not entertain lazy behaviour from officers. The DG advised officers to be neatly dressed always, as outsiders do visit the SLCS’ facilities and “our appearance will either send a positive or negative message about our institution”.

“Officers should show the difference wherever they find themselves, to leave an indelible mark at the end of the day.”

He reminded them of team work for the furtherance of the institution.

The Deputy Director General- Mr. Dennis Harman echoed the statement made by the President during a retreat they had with other security heads.

He enlightened officers about the partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture and the SLCS of which the paramount chiefs were asked to provide a land in the different regions for the institution to start their Agricultural activities.

He assured the officer that a whole Agricultural unit will be created and manned by experienced Agriculturists of the SLCS, as this will go a long way to diversify inmates’ diet and effective monitoring of yields by region.
