The Sierra Leone Correctional Service held its 2019 Audit- readiness- workshop, on Thursday 6th February 2020 at its Conference Hall, former Special Courts Complex, New England Ville, Freetown.
The Director General of the SLCS- Mr. Joseph Lamboi, who was the first speaker of the session, emphasised on procurement processes and how funds are spent, “giving our country is donor driven” and continuity depends on how judiciously those monies are spent.
He added that records should be updated regularly in order to meet the demands of the external auditors, “this can only be achieved when transactions are reconciled with the documents at hand”.
The Deputy Director General Mr. Dennis K. Harman who continued with the session emphasised the importance of documentation and said it should be prioritized, adding officers should be in readiness prior to the auditing session as every transaction should be based on the corresponding documents at hand.
